'Everest Marathon' rescheduled for October

FileKATHMANDU, MAY 30 - The Everest Marathon, which was to kick off from May 29, has been rescheduled to October in light of the April 25 quake and its powerful aftershocks, according to the organisers. The event is being organised by the Himalayan Expeditions with an objective to promote country's tourism in the international arena, shared Bikram Pandey, Chairman of the Expeditions. Chairman Pandey shared that this yearly marathon has been organized in the country for 12 years in succession in the memory of the first summit to the world's tallest mountain Mt Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary. He also expressed the confidence that the event would help revive tourism in the country, hit hard by the quake. RSS
